FIAGT Round 3 Oschersleben - 52 Highlights

K Carsport's Corvette of Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen claimed a fine win in difficult conditions today in Oschersleben, their Corvette Z06 taking the win ahead of the two Vitaphone Maserati MC 12 cars, Bartels and Bertolini ahead of Müller and Ramos. After Saleen in Silverstone and Maserati in Adria, this is the third different winning make in three races. In GT2, three makes finished on the podium - an exceptional result in this category.  Reigning Champions Vilander and Bruni claimed the win in the rain, ahead of the Prospeed Competition Porsche of Edwards and Holzer - the youngest driver pairing on the grid.  The Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin of Makowiecki and Mücke took third - the first podium for this car.  Chris Niarchos won the Citation Cup after a fourth-place finish for CRS Racing.  The best 2010 generation car was the Marc VDS Racing Ford GT, with a fine sixth-place finish.

FIAGT Round 2 Adria 52 Highlights

The nr 1 Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati MC 12 claimed a fine win in Adria, Bertolini and Bartels racing through the sunset to cross the line 10 seconds ahead of the PK Carsport Corvette C6R of Kumpen and Hezemans.  The second Maserati, of Müller and Ramos, finished third, but could have claimed the win without a stop-go penalty.  The Luc Alphand AVentures and SRT Corvettes came in fourth and fifth, with Full Speed Racing taking its first points in sixth.  The K plus K Saleen had a difficult day, Wendlinger and Sharp going out at the start with a broken driveshaft. Bertolini and Bartels have taken an early lead in the points.

FIA GT3 - Rounds 1 & 2 Silverstone

Dimitri Enjalbert and Johan-Boris Scheier celebrated the maiden win for the AutoGT Racing Morgan Super Super in the opening round of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Silverstone.  Starting from pole position Enjelbert briefly lost the lead  but bounced back to hold the advantage until Scheier came under pressure late in the race from the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS of Christopher Haase.  The German swept into the lead on lap 22, but a technical problem forced the Audi into the pits to retire, promoting Scheier back into the lead, which he held until the flag.

GT4 - Rd 1 Silverstone

Having started back on the 4th row this morning, the nr52 Ginetta G50 of Joe Osborne and Michael Broadhurst came away with the win. Second went to the nr51 Team LNT Ginetta G50, driven by Simpson and Linn, after a strong fight with Kevin Veltman, in the nr17 Genpact BMW M3, and Buncombe and Ordoñez in the nr14 RJN Motorsport Nissan 350Z. Ordoñez secured the podium for the nr14 with some impressive driving around the last few corners.

FIA GT Round 1 - Silverstone (52 min)

The first round of the 2009 FIA GT Championship, at Silverstone, provided an exciting race, punctuated by a safety-car period which both mixed and closed up the field.  But Wendlinger and Sharp, in the K plus K Motorsports Saleen S7 proved to be a redoubtable force, and led for much of the race, despite spirited opposition from the Vitaphone Racing Team Maserati of Bertolini and Bartels.  The nr 14 Saleen S7R crossed the line 5.4 seconds ahead of the nr 1 Maserati, with the nr 19 Corvette C6R of Luc Alphand Aventures third, making three different manufacturers on the podium.  Wendlinger and Sharp therefore retain the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy - the first drivers to do so since Walkinshaw and Nicholson in 1982. It is also the first time that Saleen will be inscribed on the historic trophy.  In GT2, victory went to the Prospeed Competition Porsche 997 GT3 RSR of Westbrook and Collard, after the leading AF Corse Ferrari went off in the final stages.  Pecom Racing took a fine second place for Perez-Companc and Russo in the nr 95 Ferrari 430 GT2, with CRS Racing taking third with Rob Bell and Andrew Kirkaldy.
