We start the programme and a new era with a look at the future - electric cars and electric racing, with the EV Cup, and we'll also be looking at the future of Hyundai's Elantra.

Then we have a pair of sports cars, but the two-seat layout is about the only similarity between the new McLaren and the revamped Nissan 370Z, but before that, let's have a look at the news headlines.

WTCC Portimao HLTS - International Sound and Commentaries

SEAT and BMW shared victories in Zolder, on the first ever visit of the FIA WTCC to Belgium that was blessed by a crowd of 23,000 despite a cold wind from the North.

Jordi Gene came home first in Race 1, but it was his team-mate Gabriele Tarquini who inherited victory after the Spaniard's car failed to pass the technical checks because the air restrictor did not conform. 

Chevrolet's duo of Yvan Muller and Alain Menu completed the podium.

The second race saw one of Andy Priaulx's famous solo escapes from the pole position on the reverse grid. The Briton rejected the assaults from Rob Huff and Tiago Monteiro and claimed a much-longed home victory for Bart Mampaey and his BMW Team RBM.

This week there is Sportscar endurance racing with round two of VLN at the Nordschleife, While the World Motocross championship competes in the USA. Its a close battle of the teams with no margin for error in Speedway GB and the SuperLeague Formula holds its second round of the year in France.

Auto Mundial 26-10

We start with the headlines and then we've got a car that's been making them - the new Jaguar XJ is all that and more - and Hyundai's Ix-sonic may well be the shape of Korean things to come. Three different takes on the world of SUV and offroading, starting high end with the Land Rover Discovery and then looking at a pair that could be rivals, from Mazda and KIA, but it's news time first.

IRC Geko Ypres Rally - HLTS with International Sound and Commentary

Local hero Freddy Loix has clinched his sixth Geko Ypres Rally victory to become the fifth different winner of an Intercontinental Rally Challenge round this season. Driving for Skoda Motorsport for the first time, the Belgian was roared all the way through Saturday's 13 sun-coated special stages by tens of thousands of adoring fans, who lined the demanding all-asphalt route.

Speedway GB continues with great racing with Poole verses Coventry. The British touring car championship is at Oulton Park and the SuperLeague Formula kicks off round two at Assen in the Netherlands. The World Motocross championship is back in action again with its fifth round.

BTCC Event 5 Croft

Gordon Shedden and Andrew Jordan shared the wins in today’s three Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship races at the Croft circuit in North Yorkshire. Notably Jordan’s win was his first in the series and also marked the first for BTCC organiser TOCA’s turbocharged ‘NGTC’ engine. But at the top of the championship it is still Matt Neal who continues to lead old rival Jason Plato as the BTCC enters a lengthy summer break before returning to high-speed action at Snetterton in Norfolk on 8 August.

In scorching sunshine and in front of a bumper Croft crowd, Scottish ace Shedden (pictured leading, above) won today’s first and second races – his first victories of 2010. In a battle-scarred Honda Civic, he also took ninth place in race three and as a result has moved from sixth up to third in the standings to pressurise Honda Racing Team team-mate Neal and Silverline Chevrolet’s Plato.

BMW Three-Series - dollar for dollar probably the finest saloon car on the planet - and now it's saving both. And the Renault Wind - not the concept you remember but a topless Twingo. Opel has a new Meriva, the King is dead, etcetera, Hyundai's posh concept is called the i-Flow, and Porsche's 918 has completely rewritten the rule-book for supercars.

Motorsport Mundial 25-10

DTM continues racing for the championship at the EuroSpeedway Laustiz in Germany and the European truck racing championship is in Spain. The Formula Three Euroseries is at Hockenheim while the Ferrari Challenge Europa is in Portugal. There is a look at how the Ferrari F-one team is saving fuel and the Air race is in full flight in Canada. And there is racing in Belgium with the Renault World series at Spa.
