WTCC Monza - HLTS and edited feature with commentary

Sunday in Monza SUNRED's Michel Nykjaer was very close to become the second driver in WTCC history to win a race in a non-factory car. Something that only Tom Coronel managed to do when he claimed victory at Okayama in 2008.

In the second race on the Italian track, the Danish driver was denied a resounding result when the front-left tyre of his SEAT Leon TDI car exploded at the Roggia chicane during the last lap. Nykjaer, who had lost fifth place in Race 1 under similar circumstances, had no other options than stop and hand the leadership to Yvan Muller.

This week the Superstars championship is at Imola in Italy, there is some fantastically frantic speedway action from the Elite League. The Red Bull Air Races faces some bad weather in Rio de Janeiro, but it's better weather for the VLN at the Nordschleife, but we start by finding our about the fuel behind the Ferrari Formula One team.

BMW shows us what the X5 can do on snow now it's got more computers in the boot than NASA has in Houston, and we'll have a look at Citroen's interesting Survolt concept racer. Chevrolet is back in the big truck business looking for profits, Jaguar is back in business looking for the same, Hyundai takes another step into the US market and so does Ford, with the new Fiesta.

This week we're in Rockingham with the BTCC, at Hockenheim for the DTM and we catch up with the news from the Red Bull Air Race, the Superstars Series and the World Motocross at Mantova.

BTCC Event 3 Brands Hatch

Mat Jackson has won today’s third Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Brands Hatch.

On a damp but drying track, Jackson took the gamble to fit wet weather tyres all round on his Airwaves BMW. He quickly took the lead and went on to win on his team’s home circuit but he was fortunate as in the closing laps one of his tyres developed a slow puncture.

And he only just held on for the win ahead of Honda Racing Team driver Matt Neal whose slick tyres enabled him to close to within half a second at the end. Neal had come through from 13th on the grid.

Third, forced to give up second to the flying Neal on the final lap, was Jackson’s team mate Steven Kane.

As a result, Neal has moved into the joint championship lead with Jason Plato who failed to finish the race after his Silverline Chevrolet Cruze broke down on the first lap. Kane is up to third with just 17 points covering the top six.

IRC Islas Canarias - edited feature with commentary

Jan Kopecky has secured his first victory of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge season following a tense finish to Rally Islas Canarias today (Saturday). Kopecky moved in front when Kris Meeke suffered a puncture on Friday's penultimate stage, but then had to stave off pressure from Skoda Motorsport team-mate Juho Hanninen, who closed to within 9.1 seconds of the Czech driver at the finish in Las Palmas.
